ATAA’s Commitment to Democratic Values and Constitutional Principles

May 24, 2026

May 23, 2026, VA – The Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) supports the democratic and secular principles established by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, including national sovereignty, rule of law, equal civic participation, and respect for constitutional institutions. Atatürk’s vision emphasized a modern republic grounded in democracy, secular governance, education, and the protection of civil liberties.

As with many modern democratic societies, public discussions continue regarding political polarization, freedom of expression, the role of institutions, and the functioning of democratic processes. In this context, ATAA encourages constructive dialogue, civic engagement, and continued commitment to democratic values, secularism, judicial fairness, and mutual respect within society.

Through its educational, cultural, and community activities, ATAA remains committed to honoring Atatürk’s legacy while supporting strong U.S.–Türkiye relations and promoting understanding of the Republic’s founding principles in a respectful and nonpartisan manner.
